North-West England

North-West England was Great Britain’s industrial heartland, better known for its steelmills and dockyards than its landscape. But there is nevertheless a spirited kite and windsurf scene here. The coast is battered by winds sweeping in over the Irish Sea, which provide conditions similar to Germany and Holland’s North Sea coasts. The classic seaside resorts of Blackpool and Southport are popular with holidaymakers, epitomising British postcard nostalgia.
